Choosing the Right Gate Operator System

At Hercules Fence, our gate operator system experts can guide you through the process to find the best fit for your needs.

Are you thinking of investing in a gate for your commercial fence? The automatic or operating gate system is a versatile category that offers several convenient and secure options. At Hercules Fence, our gate operator system experts can guide you through the process to find the best fit for your needs. While we specialize in gated communities, we have happily provided for a number of unique customer needs. Here is an overview of the different types of gate operator systems that we offer.

The swing gate is one of the most common types and is usually seen protecting gated communities. It is also a good option if you are looking to add an operator system to an existing main entry gate. The sliding gate is a great alternative to the swing gate if you have limited space. As the name suggests, this gate easily slides out of the way instead of swinging open. Lastly, there are barrier lift gates. These do not fully barricade an entrance but are instead used to prevent the passage of vehicles with a barrier arm. You will commonly find them in toll booths and parking garages.

Operator Mechanism

The machinery used for opening and closing your gate will be either hydraulic or mechanical chain driven. Both are durable and reliable choices with the only difference being which will fit better with the type of gate you choose. Generally, hydraulic systems work the best for swing gates while chain driven ones work with sliding gates. Both options can be made to function automatically to be accessed with a touchpad, swipe card, transmitter, pushbutton, intercom and more.

For high-security areas, or for added protection, you have some additional features to choose from. First, you can consider adding a guard shack with your gate operator system controls. This way, you will have someone who can control who enters and prevent break-ins. Metal detection loops and metal detecting gate edges can sense when a vehicle is nearby to prevent accidentally closing on it. As always, you can choose to incorporate video surveillance cameras and other integrated security features.
