Types of Access Control Systems

An access control system allows you to view and control who comes in and out of your business.

An access control system allows you to view and control who comes in and out of your business.

Once you’ve installed a high security fence for your business, it is time to take your security measures a step further. Incorporating access controls into your fence helps to enhance your perimeter protection and really keep unwanted people out. With an access control system, you have the power over who gets in and out of the building. Here are some common types of access control systems to help you narrow down which is best for your business.

Stand-Alone

These access control systems don’t need any infrastructure or connectivity to operate. The access control system itself has the memory stored and the ability to manage its users. The downside to stand alone systems is that they don’t allow scheduling and are typically limited in the number of users it can have. You can control one or two entrances with a stand-alone system, so it can be used at the main entrance of a building or at the gate. These are better for smaller businesses because you can have a maximum of 30 registered users that can scan themselves in.

Managed Systems

These access control systems are better suited for larger businesses, able to manage up to 2,000 employees. They are connected to a central software application that allows calendars to be controlled and entry permissions. Managed systems allow the entire system to be monitored and can show who entered the building, where they entered from, and when. Integrating a managed system with your high security fence can really enhance your business security at a fairly reasonable price.

Corporate Systems

Corporate systems are great for government agencies and high risk facilities because they are a completely web based, multi platform management system. These systems allow you to easily integrate your security system with your high security fence, CCTV surveillance, vehicle access, intercoms, and more. This allows you to control all of your security measures from one place. You can buzz people into the building manually along with having access codes and cards for regular employees, while keeping a record of all this activity.
