The Different Types of Access Control Systems

Access Control System

An access control system offers you an extra layer of security for your home or business.

Access control systems are a great way to add an additional layer of security to your home or business. An access control system is operated through the use of a network that allows for entry of a person only if they have the right credentials. These credentials can vary based on the system; you might use an id card, biometrics, passcode, or more.

What Is An Access Control System

Access control systems are used in a variety of locations where rooms or buildings need to be kept secure. They can be used in government buildings, personal homes, medical offices, and any other industry where limited access to rooms or buildings is needed. Each door with an access control unit is controlled individually, creating a limited number of users with potential access.

Biometric Access Control

When you use a biometric control system, it entails using a fingerprint to grant and record access. This method can be highly secure; however, it does it has its flaws. Recently, it has become apparent that fingerprints are not as unique as we once thought. Additionally, there are a variety of both health-related and physical factors that can cause a wearing down or disappearance of the fingerprints. That said, a biometric access system is one that is usually easy and low cost to use, and it’s shown to help increase productivity.

Door Access Control

One of the most compact and cost-effective methods of control systems is a door access system. These can be used as a standalone system and are great if you need protection for single rooms such as server rooms or areas with sensitive files.

Security Access Control System

This type of security system is common in homes and small businesses where a customized approach is needed. Burglar alarms, fire and carbon monoxide, and closed circuit tv are all included in security access systems. These are usually monitored by a third party, 24-hour service and require passcodes to be entered rapidly when triggered.
